BLUEBiRD & CO. seeks Cook
We are seeking a cook to join our team! Be part of a collaborative team event. In this role, one is required to maintain consistency in menu prep, timing, plating, and cleaning. Maintaining a clean + organized station is a must. The duties of this position may change from time to time.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage quality control, hygiene, and uphold health and safety standards for food service
- Maintain inventory, control waste, and practice FiFo
- Learn all recipes, and the appropriate cooking techniques and modifications
- Maintain consistent quality following all standardized CLIFF HOUSE recipes
- Taste the food for proper seasoning
- Prepare the assigned station for service with quality consistency
- Maintain focus and calm during service, which can become high-pressure situations
- Through service, it's essential to stay organized and communicate with the team
- Participate in the daily cleaning of the kitchen and equipment
- Actively participate in team meetings
- Adhere to internal HR policies
QUALIFICATIONS & CHARACTERISTICS OF SUCCESS
- At least two years of working in a professional, commercial kitchen setting, preferably in a restaurant
- Passion for food, exceptional work ethic, and dedication
- Possesses the desire to be punctual and demonstrate excellent time management

- Possess a positive approach to problem-solving
- Strong commitment to excellence: Always do the right thing, especially when no one is looking
- Ability to maintain organization and consistency with a strong attention to detail

- Valid ServSafe Certification
- Preference for Allergens Certification & Choke Safe certified
- A high level of personal cleanliness
WORK ENVIRONMENT
We expect our staff to adhere to all BLUEBiRD & CO. policies and procedures, which are created to comply with the restaurant industry's federal and state safety and sanitation regulations.
Breaks are scheduled around service needs and may vary in timing from one shift to the next. Staff will be standing throughout their shift.
Staff will comply with the Dress Code Policy, which includes wearing appropriate footwear and uniforms in a professional environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
All staff must be able to stand for long periods. To execute tasks, they must frequently reach and bend. They must also be able to lift up to 50 lbs and firmly grasp trays, plates, and glassware.
SCHEDULE + COMPENSATION
- A four or five-day workweek. BLUEBiRD is open Thursdays - Mondays, serving dinner at 5 PM nightly
- Pay: hourly wage range is $20 - $25/hour depending experience
